Marie, a transgender woman, wanted to notice a clinic at which she would be cared for and nurtured. She has been a St. John's patient for just over 4 months, and the clinic has provided exactly the environment she was looking for. This is due in part to the staff at St John'southward, who empathise her struggle as an Afro Latina immigrant from Honduras.

What Our Patients & Staff Are Proverb

Intake Coordinator
When I came to St. John's iii years agone, I had simply started my transition and was a little hesitant to trust medical providers. I had heard horror stories from many people in my circumvolve of friends so my expectations were not very high. Once I met with my medical provider Cac. Cook and the medical staff, I realized I had been wrong.

From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed. My name and pronouns were respected, I felt supported and I knew in that moment I had institute a prophylactic place. At the time the trans programme at St. John's had virtually 300 patients. Fast forward to at present: nosotros are serving over one,400 patients of trans feel. The plan has expanded offer more medical services such as assistance with legal proper name and gender marking changes, job readiness, victim advocacy and more. I am proud to say I am now function of the St. John's staff and serve equally the patient advocate. The work we practise here is very important considering nosotros don't limit ourselves to medical care; we become above and beyond to ensure that our patients take a successful transition leading to a successful life. I know firsthand how hard information technology can be to navigate the healthcare system especially if you are Trans and I want to exist able to provide a safe and empowering experience for our patients. I want to make a positive impact in their lives, and without St. John'due south and Obamacare this would not be possible.

T.R.
I am grateful to the plan because of the health, dental and mental health care access. I attend their events, have attended the support group, and am thankful to all the THP staff that made me experience comfortable.
